Its is my belief that giftedness is demonstrated in a variety of ways. Students who are gifted may be critical thinkers, artist, use precocious language, be innovative, or creative. In my classroom I look for ways students can demonstrate creativity, leadership and their critical thinking skills. Whether this is in the academic setting or through their artistic expression. Each of the qualities that a gifted student demonstrates are all 21st Century qualities and will prepare them for life beyond the classroom. Together we will investigate conflict this school year and utilize background knowledge as well as explore new information in order to formulate an overall sense of how conflict applies to our lives.
Pitt County offers a rigorous and relevant curriculum for gifted students. One that involves investigation and demonstration in order to build upon students understanding. Pitt County believes that students who are considered gifted need a curriculum that supports higher ordered learning. There are three themes your child will explore throughout middle school: Patterns, Change and Conflict. It is Pitt Counties hope that through the use of 21st Century teaching and research based practices that each student in the gifted program will analyze each theme in new ways to deeper their understanding. For more information visit Pitt County's current AIG Plan.
